Advanced Sensor Networks Demonstrated to 3rd (UK) Division, Showcasing Robotic Reconnaissance Capabilities and AI Integration
In March ’25, 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards conducted a demonstration of their Fused Sensor Network for Major General Olly Brown, General Officer Commanding 3rd (UK) Division.
The exercise highlighted the critical role of advanced technologies in enhancing battlefield reconnaissance and intelligence gathering, ultimately accelerating the sense-decide-effect chain.
PodView Integration
Overview was pleased to participate in this significant demonstration, deploying its PodView Remote and Autonomous Sensor System. Notably, the PodView systems were integrated onto both a Jackal armoured vehicle, for long-range reconnaissance, and onto an autonomous Uncrewed Ground Vehicle (UGV) platform provided by our partners at ARX Robotics.
Capt, Toby Clark had this to say “Collaborating with Overview enabled us to swiftly and seamlessly integrate the PodView sensor into our rapidly evolving Jackal platform. PodView reduces the cognitive load on our soldiers and enhances the survivability of reconnaissance forces .”

The deployment of PodView on the ARX Gereon UGV demonstrated the potential for mobile, autonomous surveillance within a networked environment. This integration showcased the ability to extend the reach of the Fused Sensor Network into areas that may be hazardous or difficult for manned vehicles to access. By enabling remote, real-time digital data collection and transmission, the solution provided crucial situational awareness, enhancing the effectiveness of the entire network.

Edge AI / ML Capability
A key element of the PodView Remote and Autonomous Sensor System’s capability was the integration of Origami Labs’ AI technology. This powerful combination enabled the system to detect and monitor troop activity at a simulated outpost, providing vital intelligence to the Fused Sensor Network. The AI enhanced the system’s ability to filter and interpret data, providing the user with actionable intelligence in real time.
Focus on Collaboration
This collaboration with ARX and Origami Labs underlines Overview’s commitment to working with strategic partners to develop innovative solutions that meet the evolving demands of our customers. By combining our advanced sensor technology with the mobility and autonomy of ARX’s UGV platform we have created a powerful asset for modern military operations.
James Kinsman, CTO at Overview who was present at the demonstration, commented, “This exercise has been invaluable in demonstrating the operational advantages of integrated sensor networks. Our collaboration with ARX Robotics and Origami Labs exemplifies how we can leverage partnerships to deliver cutting-edge solutions that enhance situational awareness and operational effectiveness at pace. The ability to deploy the stabilised and Edge AI enabled PodView on autonomous UGV platforms extends the reach of the Fused Sensor Network, providing critical intelligence in dynamic environments”
The successful demonstration reinforces the importance of continuous innovation and collaboration in the defence sector, ensuring that forces are equipped with the most advanced technologies to deliver operational advantage.
