Challenge
An internationally based specialist systems integrator had a significant problem with existing generations of vehicle mounted covert camera systems. Existing systems leaked, regularly jammed and were unreliable. With end users losing confidence, the customer approached Overview, initially attracted by our Servotorq Integrated Servo Motors.
Overview’s Solution
After a series of short, video conference based workshops between the R&D teams at Overview and the customer, Overview proposed the development of a completely new and novel three-axis camera solution. An agile development programme resulted including putting in place tight interface controls between the Overview developed camera system and the broader customers control suite and vehicle. A proven process of preliminary and critical design reviews including design for manufacture followed by rapidly moving to solution test and verification was used.
Benefits
Within six months of approaching Overview, the customer had initial production volumes of a qualified and unique three-axis IP camera solution in service. The solution was proven to meet all requirements, provide significantly improved image fidelity and significant deliver reductions in size, weight and power plus most importantly, has been fully reliable.
